Officials are predicting a larger than normal turnout for the annual Bushy Run Battlefield Historical Society’s reenactment on August 5th and 6th.
The Trib reports that as part of this year’s reenactment, those portraying Native Americans have to follow extra steps, including consulting with members of relevant tribes to make sure historical accuracy is followed for dress, gear, lodging and practice. The association also must remain fully responsible for any problems that might occur.
The event was initially cancelled by the state historical and museum commission, The commission did an about-face in March after about 20 Bushy Run Battlefield Heritage Society volunteers and supporters journeyed three hours to Harrisburg to plead their case.
