A Penn Township man charged with killing his father and aunt nearly two years ago was declared competent to stand trial on Tuesday, but the ruling was immediately rescinded after a mid-hearing outburst.
The Trib reports that 41-year-old Neal Hubish walked out of a court hearing he attended virtually from Torrance State Hospital. Hubish is accused of killing his father, Arthur Hubish, 71, and aunt Maria Puskarich, 76, inside his father’s Burrell Hill Road home on Nov. 9, 2021.
Just minutes after the initial declaration of competency and the outburst that followed, Judge Meghan Billik-Defazio said that Hubish needed further treatment.
