A Unity man is charged with stealing $380,000 from a relative that he had power of attorney over.
The Trib reports that 50-year-old Christopher Treasure had the authority for a relative from Hempfield in April of 2021 when another relative with similar authority said they believed Treasure was stealing the money. Working with the state department of aging’s financial abuse specialist team, investigators determined that Treasure took the money by withdrawing checks and making debit card purchases, and they also say he used some of the money to gamble online.
Treasure is free on $50,000 bail and is due back in court October 10th for a preliminary hearing.
