A preliminary hearing was held yesterday for two people charged with the death of their adoptive child in early February.
The Trib reports that Lauren and Jacob Maloberti of Delmont were ordered to stand trial after yesterday’s hearing. The two are charged with injuring Landon Maloberti dozens of times, and those injuries caused his death. Prosecutors argued the Malobertis inflicted fatal injuries to the child and delayed getting him medical attention until they finally drove the boy to a hospital in Hempfield on Jan. 30. Doctors found him in critical condition and ordered he be immediately flown to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, where he died.
The two will remain in jail on no bail. A formal arraignment hearing is set for October 18th.
