State police have charged a Hempfield man with setting fire to his apartment on Sunday, prompting an evacuation of the building.
The Trib reports that 45-year-old Frank Starr allegedly set the fire at New Stanton Manor at 7:30 AM after a reported fight with someone in the apartment. He allegedly threw a glass vase and a knife at the person, and used a lighter to set fire to the victim’s clothes and a chair in the living room.
Starr is charged with aggravated assault, arson, causing catastrophe and related offenses. He is in Westmoreland County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail, with a preliminary hearing set for September 20th.
