Westmoreland County Judge Meghan Billik-Defazio has ruled that speedy trial rights have not been violated in the case of Ray Shetler, Jr.
The Trib reports that after taking defense-related delays in the case, prosecutors have 51 days to bring the case to trial.
Shetler is accused of attacking and injuring one of the officers trying to take him into custody at a mobile home in Seward. He was wanted for an alleged probation violation. He has been in jail since December of 2021. Defense attorneys said that his right to a speedy trial was violated.
