The Westmoreland County DA’s office said there is not enough evidence to support a criminal offense connected with the death of a Derry Borough Police Dog.
The Trib reports that K-9 officer Smoke was euthanized after an incident at the home of his handler and the Derry Police Chief Randy Glick where Smoke and another dog were involved in a fight. An examination with a vet a few days later showed severe wounds to Smoke’s hind end, and the decision was made to euthanize the dog.
Borough government is conducting its own investigation.
