Two firefighters were honored for lifesaving efforts in an incident in August of last year during a flood incident.
The Trib reports that Russell Withrow Jr., assistant chief with mutual aid fire department, was pulling into the Dryridge Volunteer Fire Department when he saw a man step out of the car and get swept away by the flood waters. Withrow then jumped in and was able to get the man’s hand before he went into a culvert. Another firefighter from the Dryridge Volunteer Fire Department, Kevin Boarts, pulled the two to safety.
Withrow and Boarts were honored last month by Unity government officials with lifesaver awards and were given medals of bravery.
