A former Baltimore priest is now at Saint Vincent Archabbey after he was suspended from ministry by the Catholic Diocese of Baltimore.
The Trib reports that the Reverend Paschal Morlino was removed from his position as pastor of St. Benedict Church in Southwest Baltimore after the diocese learned of a payment he made to settle sexual harassment allegations. The archdiocese learned about the settlement Thursday when reporters for The Baltimore Banner inquired about it and they opened an internal investigation.
The archdiocese will appoint a new administrator to oversee Saint Benedict Church, which is owned and operated by the Benedictines.
Morlino confirmed the $200,000 settlement payment to reporters in Baltimore, denied any wrongdoing and said he had nothing to hide.
