A member of Derry Borough Council is accusing the council president and mayor of using political intimidation after he called on them to resign their positions.
WTAE-TV reports that Al Checca is making the accusation after state police went to his home on the day he was to attend a Derry School Board meeting, asking him not to bring a gun on the premises, and then being asked to consent to a pat-down search when he arrived at the meeting. Mayor Grant Nicely, who also works as a security guard for the district, had no comment, but the district is conducting an investigation.
Council President Sara Cowan denied the accusations in a statement.
