Westmoreland County Commissioners agreed to pay further discrimination settlements concerning county Sheriff Jonathan Held.
The Tribune-Review reports that another $83,000 was agreed upon to settle discrimination cases brought by two deputies against Held and his former second-in-command Patricia Fritz, who was fired earlier this year.
Commissioners approved $75,000 to Deputy Sean Lander, a 22-year-old Marine Corps reservist from Harrison City, who said Held overlooked him for full-time work because Held’s office had a bias against hiring military reservists. The remaining $8000 goes to Deputy Isaiah Jenkins. While Jenkins did not file a lawsuit, his lawyer did raise a complaint about the same issues.
