Officials in Export are considering taking back control of Italy Road from PennDOT.
The Trib reports that Council President Barry Delissio announced that the borough was approved for over $360,000 in grant funding through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Developmentās Small Water and Sewer Grants program. About $200,000 would go towards sewer line work on Italy Road. Delissio said they want to take a look at the road and see if it is worth entering the Highway Transfer Turnback program.
PennDOT has owned the road since 1931. Under the program, PennDOT would pay the borough four-thousand dollars per mile each year for road maintenance.
