A union representing Westmoreland County 9-1-1 workers and others including employees at the courthouse and juvenile detention center has provided notice of an intent to strike.
SEIU Local 668 notified the county on Friday that its members are rejecting the most recent contract offer and have authorized a strike effective in 10 days time. Union members have been working without a contract since the end of 2023.
A spokesperson for the Service Employees International Union 668 says that, in 2021, county commissioners gave themselves a 17-percent raise over the next three years, which is significantly more than what they have offered to union members.
