A lawsuit filed against the Westmoreland County Prison claims that an inmate who died in 2016 did not receive adequate medical care behind bars.
The Tribune-Review reports that 50-year-old Gary L. Dubois of Derry was arrested in December of 2016. The lawsuit stated that while Dubois was a heavy heroin user, he also had an ongoing stomach ailment that he was not treated for and he died five days later after guards found him unresponsive in his cell.
The estate of Gary Dubois is seeking unspecified damages for wrongful death and negligence, and they name Westmoreland County, the prison, Warden John Walton and medical provider Wexford Health Solutions as some of the defendants.
