Garbage fee rates were a topic of discussion at last night’s Latrobe city council agenda meeting.
The Tribune-Review reports that the council is considering a new contract with Republic Services. Under the terms of the new agreement, rates would spike by 26 percent in the first year of the contract, and an additional three percent the next four years. For the average customer, fees would jump from $51 to $66 for those who use bags and from $66 to $81 if the customer uses the wheeled toter garbage bins.
The new rates should start in January, and council looks to retroactively approve the agreement at their next meeting on January 15th.
