Westmoreland County Judges are extending deadlines for work to be completed by the county register of wills. The Trib reports that complaints about Sherry Hamilton failing to properly file and process court documents on time were made, and yesterday, judge Harry Smail, Jr. questioned Hamilton for over an hour. She said that the office was in disarray, was understaffed, had untrained workers and administrators and managers were not loyal to the cause. Smail and Judge Christopher Feliciani said that Hamilton and her staff complete any pending scanning, docketing, and distribution of orders, disposition and estate documents within 10 days, file and process adoption records within 5 days and ensure all other outstanding work is finalized in a timely manner. Any violation could result in jail time, fines, and assignment of a conservator over the office.
