A Hempfield man is charged with using stolen checks to buy multiple items over a three-year period. The Trib reports that 55-year-old William Barnhart is accused of using the checks he stole from homes in Hempfield, New Stanton and South Huntingdon to purchase over $38,200 in items, most of which were hunting-related items. Barnhart surrendered and was arraigned Wednesday morning, and he was release on his own recognizance. He is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on February 14th.
