A New York City man who was arrested on the PA Turnpike in Westmoreland County in October of 2020 was ordered to serve 10 years in federal prison for bringing large amounts of drugs into the Pittsburgh region. The Trib reports that 35-year-old Christopher Delacruz was riding on the turnpike with Juan Pimentel when state police pulled them over near the New Stanton interchange Troopers reported finding 4 pounds of fentanyl hidden in the SUV in which he was travelling. While he was free on $20,000 unsecured bond in that case, Delacruz was arrested again in March 2023 outside the Pittsburgh Greyhouse bus station. Agents from the state attorney general’s office found him carrying a bag containing 300 bricks of fentanyl. On top of the 10 years in federal prison, he will serve five years on supervised release.
