GREENSBURG CITY COUNCIL APPROVES RESOLUTION REGARDING FIREFIGHTERS

Greensburg City Council has approved a resolution that allows city workers who are volunteer firefighters to respond to calls during the workday.  The Trib reports that this is similar to legislation passed by Penn Township officials in July of 2023.  While it does not allow city employees to respond to every call, they will be able to step in to assist with significant calls.  Fire chief Tom Bell said that 10 of the 15 public works employees are volunteer firefighters.
