Officals in Allegheny Township are trying to figure out why the IRS is fining them $51,000. The Trib reports that the township may not have properly withheld taxes from employee paychecks on multiple occasions over three years, that according to interim township manager Jason Dailey. A notice of the fines only recently was received by the township and references the township’s failure to submit withholding income tax payments for various quarters over three years, most recently in the first quarter of 2023. Dailey said the township is investigating the matter, but he noted previous township administrations “may have dropped the ball.”
