Penn Township commissioners voted to allow the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s office to review any police body cam footage before the video is released to the public. The Trib reports that police chief John Otto called this an opportunity to work with the DA’s office on these incidents “so that we can move forward quickly and efficiently and get the information out to the public that needs to be released.” The township will send a copy of the request, the video and any other reports relevant to the footage to the district attorney’s office no more than 10 days after receiving the request, according to a draft of the agreement. The township will still maintain ownership of its police video.
