FORT ALLEN PLANS ON JOINING HEMPFIELD FIRE DEPT

Fort Allen Fire Department is planning to join the Hempfield Fire Department. The Trib reports that the township received a letter of intent on Tuesday to move the process forward. Once the process is finished, the township will manage Fort Allen’s property and cover its expenses. He hopes the move will help the company find additional firefighters — a challenge for many departments across the region and state. Officials say Fort Allen has 10-12 active firefighters.
