Increased pay is helping to eliminate the issue of poll worker shortages in Western Pennsylvania. Westmoreland County Election Bureau Director Greg McCloskey says they are not lacking a single elections judge ahead of the primary on April 23rd. Westmoreland County commissioners raised compensation for poll workers in 2021, with pay up to 235 dollars per day from 130 dollars previously for judges of elections. Officials in both Allegheny and Butler counties say increasing pay for their poll workers has helped draw and retain more people there as well.
