UNITY MAN ACQUITTED ON AGGRAVATED ASSAULT CHARGES

A Westmoreland County jury acquitted a Unity man of a felony charge of aggravated assault. The Trib reports that 26-year-old David Ross was accused of stabbing his instructor in the neck during a class session at Westmoreland County Community College on November 9th of 2021. Security video of the lab, shown to jurors, depicted Ross working at a sheet metal station just prior to the alleged assault but because the victim, Evan Dickson was obscured behind equipment, any physical contact between the men could not be seen, according to prosecutors. Ross is scheduled to appear before another judge in April for a pretrial hearing on unrelated misdemeanor counts of possession of instruments of crime while incarcerated at the Westmoreland County Prison.
