FORUM HELD CONCERNING THE FUTURE OF FIREFIGHTING IN HEMPFIELD

A special forum was held Saturday concerning the future of firefighting in Hempfield. The Trib reports that township officials were present at the township municipal building to answer concerns about the state of the fire department and clarify the process that individual stations can decide to come under the township department’s control. The process of becoming non-chartered usually takes six to eight months, according to township officials. When the statement goes non-chartered, it will go under the direct management of the township in return for the township paying its expenses.
