A Norwin School Director has filed a complaint with the IRS claiming a North Huntingdon charity that raises money to combat childhood cancer is violating rules for tax-exempt charities by engaging in political activity. The Trib reports that the complaint was filed against the Reflections of Grace charity, claiming that literature for the We Are Norwin slate of school board candidates was placed in packets for the charity’s annual Race for Grace. He says the inclusion of the information for We Are Norwin violates a 2007 rule banning political activities by tax exempt charitable organizations. An IRS Spokesperson said they are not permitted to confirm or deny that anyone filed a complaint against a non-profit or a taxable entity.
