Several power outages were reported throughout Westmoreland County on New Year’s Day, some of it due to the storms, but for the residents of New Kensington, it was because a pickup truck crashed into a utility pole.
KDKA-TV reports that around 2:40 in the morning on New Year’s Day, someone crashed into several parked cars and then a utility pole in the 300 block of Freeport Road. Police on the scene were able to detain the driver, who was not identified. No word yet on what charges he will face.
West Penn Power says that power will be restored by 1:00 PM today at the latest for the one to 20 customers still affected by the outage.
