A bill that would call for a moratorium on new cyber schools has been introduced in the state Senate. The minority chairwoman of the Senate Education Committee has introduced Senate Bill 27, which would bar new cyber charter schools until 2037. A recent national study found that cyber charter students’ lack of academic progress equated to their losing 72 days of learning in English language arts and math. Senator Lindsey Williams’ cosponsor memo for the legislation says that equates to an entire school year of learning loss.
