If the rain stops, some bridge rehab work is expected to get underway today. The Trib reports the work will affect both directions on a stretch of I-70 in Rostraver and South Huntingdon. The restrictions will be in place from 9-3 for at least two days to allow crews to work on the Matthew Smelser Memorial Bridge which carries the interstate across the Youghiogheny River. If the weather is bad, work could be moved to next week. The bridge rehabilitation is part of a $120.6 million project to update and reconfigure the Route 51 exit. Overall work on the project is expected to wrap up by fall 2027.
