EXCAVATOR FALLS ON TWO CARS IN UNITY TOWNSHIP

At least one person was taken to a nearby hospital as an excavator slipped off a trailer and landed on two cars in Unity yesterday.  The Trib reports that the incident happened at the intersection of Route 981 and Monestary Drive around 4:30 PM.  Unity Township emergency management coordinator Tom Schultheis said The excavator fell as the trailer was turning from Route 981 to head east on Monastery, while the two cars were stopped on Monastery, facing west at the intersection’s traffic signal.  No major injuries were reported but one woman was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
