State business groups concerned about a looming deadline to comply with a new federal overtime rule are asking for an extension. The rule that’s set to take effect July 1st raises the threshold for determining when salaried employees are due overtime pay and also expands the number of workers eligible for it. The coalition of business groups, called the Partnership to Protect Workplace Opportunity, want to move the deadline to September first. The U.S. Department of Labor says the threshold is slated to jump from nearly 36-thousand-dollars per year to a little more than 43-thousand.
