Police have charged a man with trying to mail about two pounds of cocaine from New Kensington to California. The Trib reports that 33-year-old Jonathan Booher was arraigned on Friday on charges of possession with intent to deliver, criminal attempt to delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. The criminal complaint says that US Postal inspectors intercepted a suspicious package with the address of a woman from Van Nuys that contained a kilogram of cocaine worth about $48,000. Video surveillance footage from the post office showed Booher walking up to the postal desk with a shipping label in hand along with the parcel and he was seen completing the shipping label on the parcel and turning it over to be shipped. Booher is in Westmoreland County Jail on $50,000 bond, and is due for a preliminary hearing on May 30th.
