Witnesses testified yesterday in the trial of Zachary McGrath that he actually told his friends that he fired the shots that killed Daniel McNerny in January of 2016.
The Tribune-Review reports that Robert Stewart testified yesterday that he picked up McGrath just blocks from the murder scene and while he drove him around that night, he admitted to his role in a plot to rob two Pittsburgh-area drug dealers. Stewart was charged in the case with hindering apprehension and other crimes.
Also testifying yesterday was Randy Nevin of Latrobe, who said McGrath admitted his role in the shooting to him and said he would turn himself in after the two of them and two others had dinner together at a sports bar.
The prosecution is expected to rest their case today.
