A man from Madison is charged by State Police with leading authorities on a nine and a half mile chase in Sewickley Township.
The Tribune-Review reports that at 8:23 on Saturday, police were called out to Creek Road in Sewickley Township to check on a man who was seen sitting in a car. The man, later identified as 47-year-old Brian Allen Smith, acted suspicious and refused to talk to the trooper. He took off and police pursued him, with speeds reaching 70 miles an hour on township and state roads. Smith also rammed a cruiser during the chase. It came to an end when Smith ran over a spike strip.
Police say that he had an open bottle of vodka when he got out of the car. He is facing charges of aggravated assault, DUI, and other offenses, and is now facing a preliminary hearing on January 21st.
