A school board member in the Norwin School District is saying the recent selection of a new board member by a panel of Westmoreland County Judges was tainted.
The Tribune-Review reports that at a recent board meeting, board member Dennis Rittenhouse said that a letter that was written by fellow member Darlene Ciocca to Judge Rita Hathaway stating opposition to Rebecca Gedimnskas taking the seat was “inappropriate.” Rittenhouse had voted for Gedimnskas when the board was trying to find someone to fill the term of Shawn Petrisko, who resigned from the board last August.
Ciocca defended her action, saying that others had written to the judges concerning the issue as well. The judges were petitioned to make a decision after several months of votes failed to produce a candidate who could get five votes to fill the seat.
