A State Senator from Hempfield was ready to repel burglars during an incident in Chartiers Township, Washington County.
The Tribune-Review reports that Senator Kim Ward had been staying the night at her mother’s house when a frantic neighbor rang their doorbell, saying someone was robbing their house. Ward grabbed her handgun and urged her parents to call 911. Minutes later, the robber was being held by Ward at gunpoint.
Court records say that a 24-year-old Washington man was arrested in connection with the incident and charged with defiant trespass, loitering and prowling at night, public drunkenness and criminal mischief. He is now in jail in lieu of $35,000 bail.
