At last night’s meeting, the Mt. Pleasant School Board officially rejected a state-appointed fact finder’s report concerning teachers’ contracts.
The Tribune-Review reports that many teachers and their supporters were in attendance last night. The previous contract between the district and its teachers, counselors, nurses and school psychologists expired in August and negotiations have been going on since then. In September, the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board appointed a fact-finder to provide a report after negotiations stalled.
Those who voted against the report said it was too biased toward the teachers, and said the proposals put forward in the report would cost the district too much money and the district would have to raise taxes to get the $3 million needed to cover the proposed contract in the report.
