A Westmoreland County covered bridge was damaged in a hit-and-run collision earlier this week.
The Tribune-Review reports that a State Trooper discovered the damage to the Bells Mills Bridge. The bridge remains closed at this time as the damage continues to be inspected.
The bridge was built in 1850 over Sewickley Creek, and was rebuilt in 1988.
Crews are working on ideas for a temporary fix to allow the road to be re-opened and consultants who have inspected the bridge will work on a long-term fix.
