A Pittsburgh man involved in a chase with police in North Huntingdon Township allegedly threw a large supply of heroin out of his car during that chase.
KDKA-TV reports that the chase started around 10:00 PM on Route 30 near Carpenter Road. Two troopers in an unmarked car saw a red 2011 Chevy Camaro, and after running the plates, they found the owner had a suspended license and the vehicle had an expired registration. When troopers tried to pull the car over, the driver, later identified as 34-year-old Laplez Cummings, led police on the pursuit and threw a large item out the window. After about three miles, Cummings jumped out of the car himself, but police were able to catch up with him with help from the K-9 Unit.
Police recovered what was thrown out of the car, and it was a vacuum-sealed bag filled with 50 bricks worth of heroin. Cummings is now in jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
