Two people who were convicted in a 2001 murder case in Bell Township had their life sentences reduced.
The Tribune-Review reports that now-35-year-olds James Provitt and Bryan Chambers were re-sentenced to serve 27 years to life in prison for the beating and shooting death of 48-year-old Larry Dunmire. The re-sentencing comes as the two were minors when they were originally sentenced to life in prison without parole, and there has been a change in state law and subsequent court rulings have made sentencing juveniles to life without parole unconstitutional.
The two have been given credit for time already served, making them eligible for parole in about nine years.
