Mt. Pleasant teachers are expected to show up to tonight’s meeting of the school board to try to show support for progress in the ongoing negotiations between the teachers union and the district.
The Tribune-Review reports that the teachers have been working under the terms of a contract that expired in August. A fact-finding report that was supposed to be neutral was presented to the board in October, but it was rejected, as they said it was too biased toward the teachers. The teachers union had accepted the report after they reviewed it.
Some of the sticking points for this contract include salaries, health benefits, sick day donations and classroom supplies.
