State Police have charged two 20-year-old women with theft after they tried to steal more than $3,000 worth of items from the Hempfield Walmart on Tuesday.
The Tribune-Review reports that Meghan Bender of Connellsville and Julie Thomas of New Stanton were arraigned on charges of robbery, retail theft and harassment for the incident that happened at 2:33 in the morning. Store employees watched as the pair loaded items from multiple departments in carts and when they tried to wheel the carts out, they stepped in to stop them. The two tried to push past the employees and Thomas struck one of the employees.
The two are in Westmoreland County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail each. A preliminary hearing is set for both of them on February 8th.
