Icy conditions were to blame for an 11-car pileup on Route 819 in Hempfield Township yesterday morning.
WTAE-TV reports the crash happened as a car went up Harvey Avenue and slid back downhill on some black ice and headed towards 819. That caused the chain reaction crash that snarled traffic.
No injuries were reported. Police are saying that drivers should be on the lookout for black ice, and make sure the tires on their vehicle are ok to travel on.
