JURY FINDS MAN GUILTY OF SHOOTING MONROEVILLE POLICE OFFICER

A jury found a man guilty of shooting a Monroeville police officer in 2023.  KDKA-TV reports that 40-year-old Bruce Alvarado of Clairton was convicted on attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, assaulting an officer and other crimes on Friday.  He led police on a 30-mile chase that started in Allegheny County and ended in Allegheny Township in Westmoreland County.  A Monroeville police officer was shot in the incident.  He faces up to 40 years on the attempted homicide charge and up to 20 years on the assault of an officer charge.  He will be sentenced at a later date, and will remain in jail until then.
