A lawyer representing a Mount Pleasant Township man who allegedly stabbed his mother says his client was suffering delusions from over-the-counter supplements. Attorney Tim Andrews has informed the court that he plans to use an insanity defense for 47-year-old Kort Eckman. The defendant is facing counts including attempted homicide for reportedly stabbing his mother 10 to 20 times while she was sleeping in October of 2023. Officials with the district attorney’s office argue that the insanity defense should not be used, saying there is no evidence showing Eckman was still taking the supplements at the time of the attack.
