A longtime Westmoreland County public defender has resigned his position. The Trib reports that the resignation of Wayne McGrew was made official last week. He was chief public defender since April of 2012, when he took over for Dante Bertani, who was fired after over 40 years in the office. County Commissioner Ted Kopas said that McGrew’s last day was last Friday, and that it was in the best interest of the office for him to resign. It was not clear what prompted his resignation.
