PITTSBURGH-BASED EQT ENERGY PURCHASES OLYMPUS ENERGY

Pittsburgh-based EQT Energy has purchased Olympus Energy.  The Trib reports that the $1.8 billion deal officially closed last week.  Olympus is headquartered in Washington County, but much of its over 100,000 acre gas-drilling footprint is in Allegheny and Westmoreland Counties.  There’s no word on how many Olympus employees will be retained.
