A fire-damaged building on Clay Avenue in Jeannette is now back in the hands of local government. The Trib reports that last Thursday, the Council rescinded transferring the property after a sale reportedly fell through. In January of 2024, council approved transferring the property to Jeannette Redevelopment Authority and then to Checko Properties The owner of Checko Properties, Matt Yanecko, said he wanted to move forward with the project but ran into what he described as a lack of communication and cooperation with city officials, and the deal fell through. City officials will see if there is any interest in the property being developed.
