A new ordinance has been proposed for Murrysville to create a registry of vacant properties within the municipality. The Trib reports that Chief Administrator Michael Nestico, who created the proposed ordinance, said the idea would be to have the database as a way to “keep tabs on these properties and to allow for inspections so we ensure they’re not a danger to the community.” One of the elements of the ordinance would require any absentee property owner who lives more than 25 miles from their property to have an agent or property manager who is answerable to the municipality. Council will consider passing the proposed ordinance at its next meeting on November 5th.
