Once again, a Hempfield bicyclist was in court defending his recent actions.
The Tribune-Review reports that 59-year-old David Smith was facing parole violation charges as he was seen riding his bike on Carbon Road. In the past, Smith had ridden his bike on various roads right in the middle of the road and not allowing people to pass him. In this incident, he was caught by former deputy coroner John Swartz riding the opposite way, but he was off on the side of the road.
Judge Meghan Billik Defazio said the identification was solid, and while he was following safe biking rules, he still violated the terms of his parole. He will now serve two years supervised release.
